- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup chicken broth

- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden and fragrant.
- Gradually whisk in milk and chicken broth. Cook until thickened, about 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Stir in Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Spread half of the chicken in the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the ham, then half of the Swiss cheese.
- Pour half of the sauce over the first layer. Repeat layers with remaining chicken, ham, cheese, and sauce.
- In a small bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, melted butter, and Parmesan cheese.
- Sprinkle breadcrumb mixture evenly over the casserole.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbling around edges and top is golden brown.
- Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
