Description
A rich, creamy homemade peanut butter frosting that’s perfect for cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies. This easy recipe uses simple pantry ingredients to create a smooth, spreadable frosting with intense peanut butter flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (optional, for desired consistency)
Instructions
- Place softened butter and creamy peanut butter in a mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and well-blended, about 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, about 1/2 cup at a time, mixing on low speed. Scrape down sides of bowl periodically with a spatula.
- Add vanilla extract and drizzle in 1 tablespoon of milk as needed to achieve desired consistency.
- Beat on medium-high speed for 1-2 minutes until fluffy and creamy.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or consistency as needed with additional milk or powdered sugar.
- Use immediately to frost cooled cakes, cupcakes, or other desserts.
Notes
- Use room temperature ingredients for best results and smooth texture
- Choose shelf-stable, no-stir creamy peanut butter for smoothest finish
- Sift powdered sugar if it’s particularly clumpy
- For thick, pipeable frosting use less milk; for glaze-like consistency add more
- Can be made with crunchy peanut butter for added texture
- Natural peanut butter can be used but may require extra mixing
- Store in refrigerator up to 1 week or freeze up to 2 months
