Description

Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Creamy Garlic Sauce is a timeless Italian-inspired dish featuring crispy, golden chicken breasts coated in a savory Parmesan crust and topped with a rich, luscious garlic sauce. This versatile recipe is both weeknight-friendly and elegant enough for special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (for sauce)
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper (for sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Dredge each chicken breast in the Parmesan-flour mixture, pressing gently on both sides to coat evenly. Tap off any excess.
  4. Place the breaded chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet, allowing space between them for even cooking.
  5. Bake for 15–20 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C).
  6. While the chicken is baking, make the sauce. Add the butter to a small saucepan over medium heat.
  7. Once butter is melted, whisk in the heavy cream and add the minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  8. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce is smooth, slightly thickened, and the garlic is fragrant (about 3–5 minutes).
  9. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
  10. Plate each chicken breast and generously spoon the creamy garlic sauce over the top. Garnish with additional Parmesan or chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For even cooking, pound chicken breasts to an even thickness before coating.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for best results.
  • Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet to ensure the crust crisps properly.
  • For extra crunch, lightly pan-fry the coated chicken in olive oil for 2 minutes per side before baking.
  • Store leftovers in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat chicken in a 350°F oven until warmed through.
  • Freezing is not recommended as the sauce may separate and the crust may lose its crunch.
