Description

Peach Pie Cruffins are a delightful fusion of classic Southern peach pie and trendy flaky cruffins. Made with store-bought puff pastry and a luscious peach pie filling with warm spices, these spiraled pastries offer buttery layers with sweet peaches in every bite. Perfect for brunch, dessert, or afternoon treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup canned peach pie filling
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine peach pie filling with cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Chop any large peach pieces.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, unfold thawed puff pastry and roll gently to smooth creases into a 9×12 inch rectangle.
  3. Spread peach filling evenly over pastry, leaving 1/2-inch border along one longer edge.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the filled pastry lengthwise into 3-4 long strips.
  5. Roll each strip into a tight spiral from one short end, then stand upright in greased muffin tin cups.
  6. Beat egg with water and brush tops of cruffins with egg wash.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 22-28 minutes until puffed and golden.
  8. Cool in tin for 5 minutes, transfer to wire rack, and dust with powdered sugar when just warm.

Notes

  • Thaw puff pastry completely in refrigerator for easy handling
  • Chill assembled unbaked cruffins for 10 minutes before baking to maintain spiral shape
  • Drain excess syrup from peach filling to prevent soggy bottoms
  • Use sharp knife for clean pastry strips
  • Don’t overfill pastry to keep spirals distinct
  • Let cruffins cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar
  • Can be assembled night before and refrigerated
  • Reheat leftovers in 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes to restore crispness
