Description
These irresistible ham and cheese sliders feature layers of tender ham and melty Swiss cheese on soft Hawaiian rolls, all topped with a buttery seasoned sauce that takes them to the next level. Perfect for game day, parties, or easy family dinners!
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 slider buns or Hawaiian sweet rolls (kept intact as a sheet)
- 1 lb thinly sliced deli ham (Black Forest or honey ham recommended)
- 8 oz Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1 tablespoon minced dried onion
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Without separating the rolls, use a serrated knife to slice the entire sheet of slider buns horizontally. Place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
- Layer half of the ham slices evenly across the bottom buns, then add all the cheese slices, followed by the remaining ham.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, honey, poppy seeds, dried onion, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder until well combined.
- Place the top half of the buns over the ham and cheese layers.
- Pour the butter mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls, allowing it to drip down the sides and into the seams.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is completely melted.
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes before cutting into individual sliders and serving.
Notes
- Make Ahead: These sliders can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance. Prepare everything except the butter sauce, cover, and refrigerate. Add the sauce just before baking.
- Storage: Store leftover sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: For best results, reheat in a 325°F oven for 7-10 minutes or until warmed through. Avoid microwaving if possible as it can make the bread soggy.
- Cheese Variations: Feel free to substitute provolone, Gruyère, or cheddar for the Swiss cheese.
- Meat Options: Turkey, roast beef, or a combination of deli meats work well in place of or alongside the ham.
- Serving Tip: Let the sliders rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld and make them easier to cut cleanly.
